LIT - First Aid Leadership Courses

Build upon your already-successful career with LIT’s newest level of instructor-training and lea-dership first aid program. Working closely with Red Cross as one of their chosen Training Part-ners for first aid in Vancouver, B.C., LIT is now home to a Red Cross Instructor Development Centre, which provides advanced instructor leadership and training programs to qualify you to teach first aid courses in B.C.

The Leadership Program consists of five steps, including online, classroom and teaching expe-rience components. Upon completion, certification is valid for three years, with recertification options also available through LIT.

First Aid Instructor FULL Course

The Canadian Red Cross First Aid Instructor course is a comprehensive program designed to prepare candidates to teach and evaluate the Canadian Red Cross First Aid and CPR courses. This course focuses on effective teaching methods, learner-centered instruction, and class management. Through a combination of online learning and in-class instruction, participants develop the necessary skills to deliver engaging and safe first aid instruction. To be eligible, candidates must be at least 18 years old, hold a current Standard First Aid certification, and successfully complete a skills evaluation. Upon successful completion, participants receive First Aid Instructor certification, valid for three years. Certified instructors are then qualified to teach all levels of the Red Cross First Aid and CPR programs.

First Aid Instructor Recertification

The Canadian Red Cross First Aid Instructor Recertification Course is designed for current First Aid Instructors seeking to renew their certification. This one-day, evaluation-based course focuses on professional development and ensures that instructors maintain the necessary teaching skills and knowledge to deliver high-quality First Aid training. Participants will engage in a review of instructional techniques, course content updates, and effective teaching strategies. The course also includes assessments to evaluate participants' ability to demonstrate key skills, manage diverse learning environments, and deliver content in an engaging and effective manner. To be eligible for recertification, participants must have a current certification.  Upon successful completion, participants will receive a renewed certification valid for three years.

First Aid Instructor Transfer

The Canadian Red Cross First Aid Instructor Transfer course is designed for experienced First Aid and CPR instructors certified through recognized organizations (such as St. John Ambulance, Lifesaving Society, or other equivalent bodies) who wish to transfer their certification to teach and evaluate the Canadian Red Cross First Aid and CPR courses. This course focuses on effective teaching methods, learner-centered instruction, and class management specific to Red Cross programs. Through a combination of online learning and in-class instruction, participants refine their skills to deliver engaging and safe first aid education. To be eligible, candidates must be at least 18 years old, hold a current First Aid instructor certification from a recognized organization, and successfully complete a skills evaluation. Upon successful completion, participants will receive Red Cross First Aid Instructor certification, valid for three years. Certified instructors will then be qualified to teach all levels of Red Cross First Aid and CPR programs.

Recognized First Aid Instructor Certifications for Transfer include: Canadian Red Cross, Lifesaving Society, Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation, St. John Ambulance, Canadian Ski Patrol

Recognized Alternative Certifications for Transfer include: Lifesaving Society Lifesaving Instructor, HIGH FIVE Trainer, Elementary or Secondary School Educator
